I decided to go ahead and shut down the comments section on the first Corrie Wood posting. I warned everyone not to make any threats to one another. It is unacceptable. Scott is technically innocent until proven guilty. However, that still doesn't mean you are not entitled to your opinon and if you want to express your opinon - please state: This is my opinon on what happend but there is no confirmed truth to the matter. I will now moderate any posts before they are allowed on my blog.
Reading this might be emotional for Scott to read. If you are innocent in terms of Corrie's death, then you have nothing to worry about. Any opinions being said on here hold no merit to you and my suggestion would be trying to find the person who did this to your girlfriend. This is the only way to fully take the cloud of suspicion off of you. Just my opinion. Last, since you are reading my blog, I would like to plead with you to stop drinking and driving. Maybe you had nothing to do with Corrie's death but I would devastated to find out that you killed an innocent person while drinking and driving. Please think of the innocent people out there that don't want to loose on of their son's or daughter's to a drunk driver. Think of your own child being taken from you by a drunk driver, imagine the hurt and pain you would feel. Please.
Folks, always remember that the mistakes of your youth and younger years can haunt you later in life. Every choice you make can affect you later on in life. Just like people that commit sex crimes against our youth will forever pay by being "outed" no matter where they live. Though, in my opinion they should have more harsh consequences. However, I am grateful to have this type of protection in place. When a sex crime is commited, it is always the prior offenders that are dragged in first. When you committ a violent hate crime, you will be in a data base and gurantee you that you will be dragged in first. I can understand Scott being frustrated at the speculation but he needs to remember that in most cases, it is always those with a prior record that are under suspicion first.
Keep it clean this time or I will not allow any additional postings.

It has been mentioned that Scott possibly has a 10 year old. I have just learned something interesting. Apparently, Scott and his brother shared an address with a woman named Sherrie Lynn Akin for a period of time. Sherrie Lynn died at a very young age on August 12, 1998. I have not been able to locate an obituary for Sherrie, as the Lincoln Journal Star archives do not appear to go back that far online. Would be interesting to know if there is any connection here.
It's been over 7 weeks, and the person who murdered Corrie is still walking around free. I can't help but wonder how Corrie's little girl is doing today (and the little boy who called her mom).
I for one will not let this just fade away. There is power in numbers and in caring. We just need to keep the pressure on, and there are a number of ways to do that.
To Corrie's killer: LE and the public are watching you. The public will help LE in the quest to arrest and convict you for killing Corrie. It may take some time, but you will be caught and then you'll be in prison for the rest of your life.

I will tell you how the "sheetwashers" were hiding something. Because they knew something at the time that the poor Sheriff didn't. The Sheriff was duped by a bunch of felon(s) There hadn't been a murder in that town for 22 years. I am sure the Sheriff was being courteous and doing what he thought was the right thing. Yes this poster is in my eyes a POI in a sense--- AFTER the fact that is. I believe she is withholding information from LE and lies that she has told is hurting the investigation. WOW!! We can all add another DUI for Scott. He got one last night and was in jail in Ogalalla. I don't know if he is still in jail or if he is how long he will be there, but he was. This is the 2nd DUI since Corrie has died. The other one was in October. Monday is the araignment and Dec is the pre-trial. This would make two DUI's in a month.
Don't be so quick to pat yourself on the back, you are sadly mistaken, what u have posted are the next two court dates. Both dates involve charges received on the night of the DUI. Don't know why they were set for different dates except that the first apperance was postponed.

The arraignment date is set for Monday 11/17 for the DUI he got last night since it was late Friday night, the pretrial date is either for the first DUI in October or possibly for the one last night depending on how many cases they have going, being busy or not.

Just the facts (I consider both Corrie and Scott my friends and have no bias. This is a tragic loss for everyone including Scott):
Corrie sent me this email a few weeks before she died:

This email does not sound like something a victim of abuse would type. Scott’s built like a brick but she softened him up from what I could see.

Sure Scott had a record of petty crimes in Lincoln. He made no secret about that and the fact that he moved to Grant to avoid hanging out with bad influences. Anybody that killed her whether accidently or intentional knows everybody would suspect Scott. Maybe he was set up or maybe there was an accident. Let the facts come out.
Even if they had a fight that night, people always say things they don’t really mean in the heat of the moment. That does not mean he intentionally harmed her or had anything to do with her death. From what I could see and what I was told a few weeks earlier, Corrie and Scott were very excited about their future together. Why would she buy a new home with a guy abusing her? Corrie seamed smarter than that. Maybe give Scott the benefit of the doubt for now. I’ll keep reading but this is my only post.

I know that there are differing theories to what went on that night and I wish that everyone were able to post their thoughts in such a mature manor. You obviously put a lot of thought into your statement. In regard to the E mail that Corrie write you, I think we must agree to disagree on this. I do not feel that it shows that Scott was not abusive to Corrie. Most often abuse goes on behind closed doors and no one not even their closest friends know what is taking place. I know that Scott's past does not automatically make him a murderer but it does show a pattern that he is capable of such violence. I do think that Scott was the person that inflicted the fatal injuries to Corrie but I do not think that he intended to kill her. I think that their fight at the bar got out of hand and became physical and she was hurt and no one realized the extent of her injuries. I would like to know if you have any thoughts or theories on what happened. I do not think that it was a stranger so that leaves very few people that were with Corrie that night. I am open to any ideas that you may have as that is what this blog should be used for, adult discussion on what may or may not have happened with as many facts as possible to back up our theories. Also, just an FYI, there HAVE been new terroristic threat charges in the last month against Scott!! I am wondering if it had anything to do with Myspace incident?? I called the perkins county sheriff today and asked what we could do about all the lies being told on her and he said a lot and if you would like to find out the truth maybe you should call the perkins county LE before you post so you don't look stupid like you do now:) If you feel the need to post anything maybe get it directly from the source so it's the truth being posted.

I really don't know how Corrie's killer or the people who know the truth and are just not coming forward with it can live with themselves. Especailly after looking through all of the new pictures added on Corrie's myspace page, Corrie did not deserve this!!! And how about that poor little girl, Kyleigh is left to grow up without her Mommy. Corrie was a beautiful girl who was so full of life and had so much love to give to Kyleigh and everyone else and now she is gone. How can someone take another person's life? How can another human being feel like it is up to them if another person lives or dies? This murder was a selfish act of violence and should have never ever happened! It will be 2 months tomorrow, I hope and pray every second that this case is solved and brought to an end. The guilty one deserves to pay and have this hanging over their head for the rest of their life! Getting this solved and the killer being arrested is going to be the only way for any closure to this. If you know what happened, PLEASE do the right thing, go take a look at Corrie's pictures on her MySpace page and then see if you can live with yourself!!!
I saw the new pics. They show a beautiful young woman throughout the years, from school to her marriage, new baby, all very happy times. The last shots, the beautiful daughter who has to grow up without her mother, her life cut short those pics should never have had to be taken. The person that did this to Corrie will rot in hell and we all know who he is.

Let me explain to the murderer and any accomplices exactly the impact of what you have done in very simple terms:
1. Kyleigh wont be able to remember the sound of her sweet mother's voice in a few years.
2. Kyleigh will have very few recallable 1st hand memories of her mother in a few years. The most recallable will be those dealing with the loss of her mother, such as when she was told her mommy is in heaven and the funeral.
3. Kyleigh will never be able to introduce her mom to her first boyfriend.
4. Kyleigh will never have her mom at her wedding.
5. Kyleigh will never have her mom to share her pregnancy with or spoil her kids.
6. Kyleigh will never have her mom at her 1st day of school, prom or graduation.
7. Kyleigh will never be able to giver her mother the special handmade Mothers Day gifts that kids make in school.
You took all of those precious moments away from a previous little 4 year old girl, you have robbed her of normal things for the rest of her life. I truly hope these thoughts haunt your mind every single day. You took away a fabulous woman from so many people who love her, but you took away a lifetime of happiness and memories from an innocent child. When you hear Kyleigh's name, see a picture of her or see her on the street, think of the suffering of a little girl that you have caused and will cause for the remainder of her life.
I'm no psychic, but I predict the "Italian Boss" won't be the boss of much in the future.

Let me clarify, as it was late and I was tired when I wrote that post. There was no death incinuated. When I speak of someone "bad" taking someone away. The ones who are covering for the guilty are still allowing someone "bad" to take them away. Because of your "heroic" cover-up job for the guilty, you too will be brought down. Therefore, in turn you are allowing someone "bad" to take you away-TO JAIL/PRISON. Then again, if you are covering for this person and you do have children, I feel so sorry for them because you are some selfish people.

If you are posting here, please take the time to consider what or who you are protecting and why. If you feel like you are too far in now or that you have no choice-you are wrong. History proves that people who conceal or hide information out of fear or guilt have end up in a much worse mental position then if they would have just confessed what they did know at the time. Scott, if you are posting on here it is clear that you are not handling this well. When in your life has alcohol or drugs lead to a positive answer. I will not condem you for drinking because it makes our minds free to escape reality for a time. It's the lie alcohol tells us all--in good times and bad. The drinking and driving has got to stop though...you already know that.

I do not know for a fact but i have heard that it was simply a medical call. That he had a heart condition and that is what happened.

I have heard things too, but do not know if it is the complete truth or not. I heard she lived in an apartment building that they did, but none of them were involved.

Did Corrie have a large life insurance policy by chance?
Don't know if she did have a life insurance policy or not, BUT even if she did I do not feel that was the motive. I think it was nothing more than just simply: LOTS of alcohol, arguments, fighting, and it went too far. If she did have a life insurance policy I doubt it would have went to Scott anyway, I'm sure Kyleigh would have been the one to get it.
I agree with the post above that insurance had nothing to o with Corrie's death. I am sure that the sole beneficiary would have been her daughter if she did have a policy. What has been on mind that I would like to go back to is the cleaning of the the sheets. I am not implying that anyone did anything wrong here but I still am trying to understand that piece better. Its Matt Beard His wife was on here and was the one going off on her husband not cheating. I think maybe Scott called him. He came over and they washed the sheets I think Scott knew about the affair Matt was having and may have used that against him to get his help.

I don't know about the motives trying not to speculate but more get a better understanding of how that came about and why Scott wanted this done right away or who came up with the idea and such. Again not saying anything was intentional as I saw that the Sherriff knew about it before hand possibly. So it sounds like Scott and Matt beard are good friends and that Matt was helping him out but we have no detail on exactly why and who thought of washing the sheets only that Matt helped out and also that Scott possibly went to Matt's house while the scene was being investigated? Is that correct? Is it common for one to stay with a friend and leave LE to analyze the scene? Thanks you are all helping me get a better handle on the logistics of the case!

I just wanted to point out that I am the one that posed the question about the sheets and Scott perhaps visiting with Matt while LE was investigating I do not want to speculate about any personal details only to discuss the items that pertain to Corrie and things that occurred after her death to get an understanding of the big picture. I am not sure if the last couple of posts were for me or the other poster but I wanted to make it clear that I am not asking for personal information about Lacy and Matt and their relationship that is none of my business. I was just hoping that I could find out why Matt washed the sheets or if Scott asked him to and why he would have gone to Matt's while LE was there or if this is common like if LE perhaps asked Scott to go elsewhere while they investigated or if he needed to just get away and went to Matt's for a bit. More to get a feel for the state of mind at that time if that makes sense! So please don't think I am trying to pry into other types of personal details :)

I heard in ogallala that the night Scott swears he was in Grant. Also he said that he came home and found Corrie but neighbors said they saw his truck in the backyard that morning and saw noone coming or going, apparently the truck being outback is very unorthadox for Scott.

It's my understanding she volunteered and words from her own mouth, she passed. Only squiggle was on a math question trying to confuse her.

Small town murder remains unsolved

Two months to the day when Corrie Wood’s lifeless body was discovered in her bed at her home in Grant, no one has been arrested.
Wood was just two days from celebrating her 29th birthday when she died as a result of blows to her head and body, according to Perkins County Attorney Rick Roberts.
Wood had been out with her boyfriend, Scott R. Petro, 38, at the Cactus Palace bar in Vanango on Friday, Sept. 19. They were accompanied by Melissa Dutton, nicknamed Red, 25, and Kent Walters, nicknamed Loomis, 40, both of Venango.
Grant is a small town about 70 miles southwest of North Platte. Venango is about 19 miles west of Grant.
A source close to the investigation said Corrie and Scott had some kind of altercation while drinking at the bar and Dutton and Corrie decided to leave.
Dutton drove Corrie back to her home at 427 W. Sixth Street in Grant, the house she shared with Scott. Scott did not accompany them, according to the source.
Dutton called Scott to let him know that Corrie was at home and in bed, according to the source.
The source said Scott left the Cactus and drove to his and Corrie’s house but was locked out so he slept in his truck.
It was Scott who discovered Corrie’s body shortly before 10 a.m. the next morning, Saturday, Sept. 20.
Investigators from the Nebraska State Patrol declined to comment if the house was secure or had been broken into since Scott claimed he had been locked out.
Perkins County Sheriff James D. Brueggeman rushed to the scene as did Roberts in his official capacity as County Coroner. Wood was pronounced dead at the scene.
What happened next has concerned residents of the tiny Nebraska town.
Brueggeman and Roberts were not able to determine Wood cause of death but did not think death was suspicious and released the crime scene.
On Monday, Sept. 20 – Corrie’s birthday – her body was in Scotts Bluff where an autopsy was performed.
Roberts announced that Corrie had been brutally murdered as a result of blows to her head and body.
It was then that Sheriff Brueggeman called in the Nebraska State Patrol to lead the murder investigation.
The investigation continues
Residents in the tiny town of Grant in southwest Nebraska were reeling after learning of the murder, wondering how one of their own wound up dead and who the killer was.
Corrie was known as a gardener who loved to cook fresh food. She enjoyed camping at the lake and golfing with her father.
Loving horses since she was a young girl, Corrie had just purchased a horse for her daughter, Kyleigh.
Corrie’s funeral was held on Thursday, Sept. 25, just five days after her murder.
Scott did not attend, according to the source.
But many felt the entanglements of a small town whose population had just decreased by one and that was especially painful.
Lt. Lynn Williams of the Nebraska State Patrol, who heads the Criminal Investigation Division, refused to say much about the investigation. He said it was a “very active investigation” but declined to say whether an arrest was immanent. Murder changes law enforcement
The murder of Corrie Wood of Grant has had dramatic and far-reaching implications in small town police departments in rural Nebraska.
When Kassi Krutsinger of Imperial, 38, was discovered dead in her residence at 3 a.m. Oct. 31, Imperial Police Chief Larry Browning took no chances.
Imperial is 27 miles southeast of Grant and 97 miles southwest of North Platte.
Krutsinger’s death was reported by her live-in boyfriend and fiancé, Steve Shinn. By the time EMS crews arrived on the scene, Krutsinger was already dead.
Since the cause of death unknown, Browning knew an autopsy would be imminent and a thorough investigation would needed to be completed at the home.
While Browning said he had confidence in his department to handle such an investigation, he decided to call in the state patrol for assistance since they would be equipped with a mobile crime lab trailer that far exceeds the capabilities of the limited forensic inventory of the Imperial police. The Imperial police department was also short on staff at that time.
But another factor in Browning’s decision to call in the NSP was the recent death of Corrie Wood of Grant.
An autopsy in that case later showed that Wood’s death was the result of blunt force trauma. Wood had been murdered. The state patrol was called in to assist in that investigation as well.
And while the Imperial scene was secured almost immediately, the scene of the Wood death was not secured between the time of death and the autopsy.
An autopsy on Krutsinger was conducted in Scottsbluff on the afternoon of Oct. 31. The cause of death remained unknown but blunt force trauma was ruled out.
Investigators say it could take some time before the actual cause of death would be known. Web sleuths get involved

A number of Web sleuths, bloggers and concerned citizens captivated by the murder of Corrie are lighting up the Internet with their thoughts, theories and suggestions on the continuing investigation.
Across the country, thousands of words rehash the case on the websleuths.com website and even local Perkins County residents are joining in.
The Bulletin spoke with a number of regular posters on the websleuths website and they are generally housewifes with children who were simply touched by the case and are working hard to solve it.
The lack of answers only encourages the amateur armchair detectives to try to solve the case.
The posters quiz each other about DNA and other evidence, debate motives and morals of the main characters and wonder why justice seems to move so slowly. Most have never met Corrie or her family.
“I want answers because I want to see justice prevail in the taking of a young mother who had so much in life, a beautiful daughter, a loving caring family, friends and now strangers due to these circumstances caring for her,” wrote Blue Crime Hunter on his weblog. The writer went on to say Corrie’s life inspired him to write the blog.
Perkins County residents have taken notice of the online posts and theories and many have contributed to the discussion – some helpful, others angry at the speculation.
“Shame on you … get a life … get a job … quit thinking you are CSI …,” wrote one poster, “… let them do their job.”
The bloggers and posters and others online have commented on every aspect of the case from posting a timeline of events and commenting on investigative techniques.
Hundreds of messages full of suggestions, accusations and theories about the crime have been posted to the website and Nebraska State Patrol investigators have noticed.
Lt. Lynn Williams said investigators have kept an eye on the website and have read the posts but would comment no further.
One poster, who lives across the country from Grant Nebraska, has a history of investigations and knows how to find facts. She told the Bulletin that she wanted to do everything she could to assist investigators by digging into the case.

“Shame on you … get a life … get a job … quit thinking you are CSI …,” wrote one poster, “… let them do their job.”
The bloggers and posters and others online have commented on every aspect of the case from posting a timeline of events and commenting on investigative techniques.
Hundreds of messages full of suggestions, accusations and theories about the crime have been posted to the website and Nebraska State Patrol investigators have noticed.
Lt. Lynn Williams said investigators have kept an eye on the website and have read the posts but would comment no further.
One poster, who lives across the country from Grant Nebraska, has a history of investigations and knows how to find facts. She told the Bulletin that she wanted to do everything she could to assist investigators by digging into the case.
The poster told the Bulletin that she felt a kinship with Corrie and felt driven to dig out facts. The woman has developed numerous relationships with Grant residents and stays in continual contact with them.
“I just want to see Corrie’s murderer brought to justice,” the poster said.
Lt. Williams said investigators are awaiting forensic lab results but said the investigation was ongoing and active.
Wow this article is FULL of lies and false reports. I sure hope they fix it before law suits fly.

Where to from here Scott? A continued life of trouble and pain or a chance at changing your life for good. I'm not saying that you did this crime-just looking at your record-it's clear that you have been in a downward spiral for a long time...I fear for your heart and for others involved.

I do not see 1 lie in the article myself most of this LE knows and will verify. Why don't you try being helpful, like perhaps instead of saying the article is full of lies state what piece you think is incorrect and why? That would give us something to discuss and figure out together in a positive manner.
The whole thing is full of lies, the house being locked, the sleeping in the pickup, the fight, and no it didn't come from an investigator it came from NSC and other sources if you read it right but evidently you didn't. Justmore lies on here to throw this whole thing off. There is no where in a police report that Scott was locked out and if you read the article the bar owner said there was nothing strange with Corrie or Scott that night so where in the hell is the fight coming in at?
So you are trying to tell me that Scott and Corrie did not have a fight BUT he did not return home until 10 AM the following morning? What kind of bf leaves their girlfriend to go home alone and to stay alone all night when everything is fine seeing that Scott and Corrie lived together???

How is it that people that were there are even saying there was a fight yet you are claiming there was not? Where are you getting your information from? It sounds like you may be the one that does not know the facts in the case!
Is this the story from Scott that's been referred to before as "golden" on here? So he had his truck keys but not house keys? And he slept in his white Ford F-250 Super Duty pickup truck until shortly before 10AM on a Saturday when he somehow got into the house and "found" Corrie? Is anyone buyin what he's sellin?

You have been told time and time again that unless you have factual evidence to support your statements, don't come on here and say everything is lies. You're only wasting your time because no one is going to believe you.
Please don't take offense to this statement. When are people going to learn that when they have children that rely on them they should be home taking care of them rather than out partying it up with a boyfriend with an extensive criminal hx that consists of 20-30 felony charges on record, several assaults, protection orders, and 2 stints in the state pen? This is not responsible to have this type of person around small children. Single moms should be more selective when they are responsible to little ones. It's about the children, not your main interests anymore. Poor judgement doesn't mean one should suffer grave consequences, such as their life being ended. But women need better judgement when it comes to choosing who they let into their and their childrens lives. Blind love is not smart. The facts are Scott Petro is a dangerous person, and always has been. If you look at his criminal history with terroristic threats-several different occasions, felon in possession of a firearm (at least 4 times), over 15 assaults, felony thefts, duis, dus, it is apparent that he is a psychopath that only looks out for #1 and doesn't feel remorse for the multiple multiple people he has victimized. Maybe the poor girl didn't know, but the prison tats and tear drop tattoos should be a red flag.

Did a little research. Criminal history is public record, you just have to know where the tools are to access it. I only have access to State of NE. Not FL or MI or wherever else he has been. The charges are from 93-08, mostly lancaster county. I just tally marked up his crimes for you to see. People like this don't get "better" as in rehabilitated. The only "better" they get is better at fooling and conning others along the way. It's called psychopaths people. 1% of the general public is and this percentage for those incarcerated in prison is way higher. They con others, fake feelings, but have none. another thought...maybe the sheets were washed because there was evidence of dirt/debris on them. Was Corrie found clothed? I'm assuming she was, otherwise how were some of the details on her body overlooked so easily? Is it possible she was killed elsewhere, or at least received her injuries elsewhere, then placed in bed?
I heard she was found naked and with two different men's semen in her - neither of which were Scott's.
I heard this from a couple people and I'm not saying it's true. Just something I heard.

The reason why it says your account was banned is because you need an internet provider such as a cable line type dsl email. If you email the mods through contact info and say who you are they will sometimes allow you to bypass this step. This is what I had to do :)
I don't know how people came to the conclusion that she was raped. There was never anything in the paper about being raped, nothing in the paper about being found naked either. The only autopsy information that has been released was that she died from blows to the head and body. Time of death wasn't even released. I'm pretty sure that if she had been raped then being raped and then murdered, or the other way around would have been released, haven't any of you every even watched the news? If the victim was raped that is always something that is released to the press.
From what I hear it's all true and even about the other 2 men. Yes i agree this is taking a very twisted turn just like the other poster stated.

First off, I think the post about a gang rape was completely uncalled for. The family has enough to deal with without something unconfirmed like that being posted. There is ALOT happening with this case. Sometimes it take awhile for special forensics...this is usually their closing the deal. I am thinking any day now :)
